First of all, let us praise the Almighty God for His grace and blessings for the tremendous financial performance achieved by the Company in 2005, as it successfully reached the highest level of net profit in all the 42 years of its establishment.

In general, the Asian economic grew immensely throughout 2005, especially. This, in turn, resulted in an increase of demand for transportation of goods within these regions, in which the economic growth of acted as a locomotive for the increase of the global movement of goods, particularly in Asia . This positive condition is expected to last for another next couple of years.

We hope the Company would take the advantages of the above favorable circumstances, and be more aggressively expanding and developing its business investments, while also maintaining caution and prudence in its new ventures, all in accordance with the Corporate Strategic Plan and its four main strategies: Go Logistics, Go Regional, Go Liner, and Go Excellent.

To face the ever competitive challenges in the trade, the Company should keep on strengthening its domestic and regional business network, increase the synergy, and cultivate a mutual cooperation with its business partners, while also improving the efficiency so as to provide excellent services to meet the customers’ needs.

Some milestones in 2005 that should be mentioned here are, among others, the Company’s consortium with Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) and Fiona Trust & Holding Corp. (Fiona) which was appointed to provide service tanker with the capacity of 145,000 cbm, to carry LNG from Tangguh, Papua. Also, in anticipation of the growth of domestic containerized cargo and coal, the Company has built new vessels in Surabaya . In the Tanjung Priok port, the Nusantara Multipurpose Terminal has begun its operation, based on the Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT) scheme. These ventures demonstrate the Company’s ability and competency in capturing and developing business opportunities while still maintaining the principle of careful management and good judgment.

In this occasion, the Board of Commissioners would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to the management and to all the employees for their dedication in expanding and strengthening the Company’s business throughout the year, both in , as well as overseas. We sincerely hope that this marvelous achievement would be followed by more similar accomplishments in future. Samudera Shipping Line Ltd ("Samudera") is one of PT Samudera Indonesia subsidiaries, was incorporated in Singapore in 1993 . The Company was converted into a public company on 2nd October 1997 when its shares got listed and quoted on SESDAQ. Following an approval from the Singapore Exchange, its shares have been transferred from SESDAQ to the Main Board, where Samudera's shares are now listed and quoted since July, 2000.
